Students at the University of Dayton plan to rally Friday, Oct. 4 in favor of gun reform. Organizers say they coordinated the campus protest to mark the two-month anniversary of Dayton鈥檚 deadly August mass shooting that killed nine people and injured another three dozen others.
Student organizer Cierra Stewart says she wants lawmakers to strengthen background checks and tighten firearm-sales regulations.
鈥淧eople shouldn't be able to buy assault weapons legally, with the potential for just what happened in the Oregon District on that day," she says, "so, I don't think regular civilians or just anyone in America should have access to those guns.鈥
The rally is scheduled for the University of Dayton Kennedy Union patio from 3-5 p.m. For more information, visit Students Demand Action鈥檚 website at
