Rose Lavelle, midfielder for the World Cup-winning U.S. Women's National Team, is returning to her hometown of Cincinnati Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19, to be honored for her success.
On Thursday, Lavelle will be of FC Cincinnati's 8 p.m. game against D.C. United at Nippert Stadium. At noon on Friday, at Fountain Square for a party to honor her success on the field and for her unabashed love of her hometown.

Lavelle graduated from Mount Notre Dame High School, where she was a standout player, and was the No. 1 National Women's Soccer League draft pick in 2017. She currently is a midfielder with the NWSL's Washington Spirit.
During the 69th minute of the recent Women's World Cup, Lavelle dribbled down the field to score the team's second and final goal of the game, where the U.S. beat the Netherlands 2-nil and took home . At that time, the crowd gathered at The Banks' World Cup Viewing Village "went nuts," Tracy Schwegmann with The Banks .
At press time, tickets were still available to Thursday's game. Friday's event is free and open to the public.
