The Ohio School Safety Center is upgrading its equipment. The center will operate 鈥渟hoot houses鈥� so school staff armed with guns can practice facing an active shooter.

Ohio school districts could begin arming employees as soon as this fall under a bill signed into law Monday by Republican Gov. Mike DeWine.

The number of school shooting threats has risen dramatically this year. It鈥檚 a trend that seems to be playing out in school districts across Ohio, especially in the wake of the Oxford, Michigan, shooting late last month.

Tuesday was the inaugural meeting of a new school safety working group, created by Gov. Mike DeWine to prevent threats or acts of violence in schools.鈥�

It鈥檚 been almost two months since Gov. Mike DeWine proposed a package of gun law and mental health policy changes, and he says lawmakers will soon look鈥�
