The theatre company says they've been locked out of the grant portal for the National Endowment for the Arts. Christy Farnbauch, the company's executive director, says she thinks President Donald Trump's executive order barring grants promoting "gender ideology" is to blame.

The Contemporary Theatre of Ohio received a $10,000 "Challenge America" award from the National Endowment for the Arts to help support their upcoming production of "Fat Ham."

The National Endowment for the Arts sends about $2 million a year to Ohio, which benefits a variety of arts organizations and artists across the state. President Donald Trump鈥檚 budget calls for the elimination of the NEA, and that doesn鈥檛 sit well with many in the arts community. 鈥淭he financial impact will be significant, but the impact on us as a culture will be much deeper,鈥� said Great Lakes Theater鈥檚 Producing Artistic Director Charles Fee.
