On July 12 Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed into law legislation giving local county commissioners a role in the approval process for large wind and solar projects.
Advocates argue that it gives the local community a say in large, sometimes controversial wind and solar projects within their borders.
Opponents argue that the legislation gives voice to NIMBYism and allows county commissioners to kill wind and solar projects at a time when we need to be building out our renewable infrastructure as fast as possible.
