A federal judge in New York barred the Commerce Department from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 Census.

In his scathing opinion, U.S. Federal Jesse Furman accused Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross Jr. of a violating “a veritable smorgasbord” of guidelines in the American Procedures Act.
