Ohio State has signed a master lease agreement to develop a new partnership with off-campus housing company Statehouse Columbus to accommodate first- and second-year students living in residence halls.

Dave Isaacs, OSU communications manager for the Office of Student Life, said the new partnership with Statehouse Columbus will house approximately 500 students for the next academic year in the Statehouse Lane and Statehouse Norwich apartment buildings.

Isaacs said more space for students is needed after the 2024-2025 freshman year class was the largest class in university history.

He said Statehouse Columbus is also working to reassign 175 residents who were planning to live in both buildings to comparable properties.

Additionally, Isaacs said the partnership will include the same support provided in on-campus housing, including all utilities, as part of the contract.

Though the buildings will only be used as dormitories for the next academic year, Isaacs said it's possible the master lease agreement could be used again in the future.
