AEP Ohio expands bill assistance program

AEP is expanding its bill assistance program to help struggling customers.

The utility company said the Neighbor to Neighbor program is now accepting applications for customers to receive a larger grant applied directly to their bill.

The program is usually available once per year on a first-come, first-served basis. The company said due to recent severe weather the maximum credit available increased from $350 to $500. A family of four earning up to $83,250 is eligible for the program. Customers can apply through July 29.

AEP received a lot of criticism last week after occurred following a severe storm. Following the outages, the company announced it would partner with local non-profits to to help relieve the financial burdens from customers.
