Columbus Police say they are reviewing the flight pattern of the department patrol helicopter that spelled out the department鈥檚 initials when viewed on the flight tracking application FlightAware.
Columbus Division of Police officials said the helicopter went on several high-priority run early Saturday but in between 鈥渇lew a pattern which spelled out 鈥淐PD鈥� when later viewed on a flight tracking application.鈥�

Officials said that took less than ten minutes and didn't use additional fuel but 鈥渆ven the appearance that officers were not operating within the mission of the Aviation Section is not acceptable.鈥�
Council President Pro Tempore, Elizabeth Brown tweeted, "Let鈥檚 be clear: a joyride is NOT essential work."
