Nationwide Children鈥檚 Hospital announced Thursday that it will acquire Toledo-based Mercy Health Children鈥檚 Hospital by January 2022.
The hospitals say the goal of the acquisition is to help children and families in the Toledo area have access to a wider array of procedures and therapies without having to travel.
鈥淪ince 1999, Mercy Health 鈥� Children鈥檚 Hospital has provided the highest quality, most compassionate care for children throughout our community,鈥� said Bob Baxter, president of Mercy Health, in a press release Thursday. 鈥淭his will continue to be the mission, and children and families will benefit from having Nationwide Children鈥檚 expertise and resources in our community.鈥�
While the amount of money involved in the acquisition was not disclosed, following the transition Nationwide Children鈥檚 will lease the facility that houses Mercy Health. Details regarding staffing and operations and still being finalized, according to the news release.
