Nearly 200 Columbus Dispatch production workers will lose their jobs as the paper shutters its West Side printing facility.

Production of the paper will move to a facility almost three hours away in Indianapolis, Ind. The shift will mean tighter deadlines behind the scenes, but the paper says it shouldn’t impact daily service.

The new facility also means a return to the more traditional broadsheet format the Dispatch abandoned in 2013.

On Monday, the company gave 60-day notices to 188 full and part-time employees who currently work at the facility near Georgesville Rd. The Dispatch is aiming for March 6 as the last full shift at the plant, although some workers may stay on to help close down and move equipment.

The closure comes on the heels of Gannett purchasing the newspaper’s parent company GateHouse Media late last year.
