It could be a crowded field of Republican candidates for Ohio governor next year. The current governor says he knows who鈥檒l he back if she follows predictions in joining the race.
When speaking to a forum of newspaper editors and publishers this week, John Kasich admitted he does have a preference among the Republicans who鈥檝e expressed an interest in running for governor, though he said in the presidential race endorsements didn鈥檛 mean much.
鈥淚鈥檓 going to be for Mary Taylor if she runs 鈥� I鈥檝e already said that. She鈥檚 the Lieutenant Governor and she has been a good partner, and she walked away from her own job and so that鈥檚 what I will do," Kasich said.
鈥淏ut we don鈥檛 have any declared candidates, so we鈥檒l see how this all goes,鈥� Kasich added.
There had been reports that Kasich was upset with Taylor for supporting Jane Timken over his choice Matt Borges in last month鈥檚 state party chair election.
Taylor than Attorney General Mike DeWine, , and Secretary of State Jon Husted, run.
Northeast Ohio Congressman Jim Renacci is also reportedly investigating a run.
