Columbus Realtors says 2015 was a record year for Central Ohio home sales.
The industry group says more than 29-thousand single family homes and condominiums sold during the year. That's up by 9 percent over the previous year.
The group says home prices also rose by more than 4 percent last year, making the median sales price of a house nearly $160,000.
Columbus Realtors President John Royer says home prices should continue to rise this year but at a slower rate.
Despite the improving numbers, Columbus Realtors says across the country report home ownership is at its lowest rate since 1993.
While a lack of inventory has been a problem in recent years, real estate agents say that could improve this year.
In Central Ohio, the Columbus, South-Western, Hilliard, Olentangy and Westerville school districts saw the highest level of home sales last year.
