Gov. John Kasich took time away from the campaign trail to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks in his hometown north of Columbus.
At a memorial ceremony in Westerville, the Republican presidential candidate told the crowd that today brings an opportunity to heed the call heard daily by firefighters, police officers and other safety forces.
鈥淚t鈥檚 honoring what these first responders did for us and do for us every day: live a life a little bit bigger than themselves, treat everybody with respect and dignity,鈥� Kasich said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e a good role model.鈥�
Kasich described 9/11 as 鈥渙ur Pearl Harbor鈥� and said it was a wake-up call to be strong, and to rally from loss. He continues campaigning tomorrow with a trip back to New Hampshire.
