Kent State Remembers Virginia Tech and National Guard Shootings

Students at Kent State University Friday observed the anniversary of the shootings there while reflecting on the recent tragedy at Virginia Tech.

Friday marked 37 years since the Ohio National Guard shooting deaths of four Kent State students and the wounding of nine others during Vietnam War protests.

The KSU Victory Bell, rung each year on the anniversary, rang out 32 times to honor the victims killed April16th by a gunman at Virginia Tech.

The Virginia Tech part of the day came at the hour when most of the shootings occurred on the Blacksburg, Virginia, campus.

One Kent State student who helped organize the commemoration says she choked up, because it's an emotional day.
