West Columbus blaze kills 10

Local, state and federal investigators are searching for clues in the ashes of a blaze that this weekend took the lives of 10 people in Prairie Township on the west side of Columbus. The deadly fire is classified as suspicious and investigators are looking for signs of arson.

The 24-unit building stands charred, still wrapped in crime scene tape. Investigators from the Prairie Township Fire Department, the State Fire Marshal's office, ATF, the US Attorney and Franklin County Sheriffs Department are all on the scene.

If it is ruled arson the person responsible could face the death penalty. In addition to the 10 people killed, the American Red Cross has helped more than 40 people who were displaced. Managers at the Lincoln Park West apartments say they've moved 12 families into new apartments in the same complex.
