Introducing Miriam Burns: OSU's New Maestra

Miriam Burns
www.miriamburns.com

Miriam Burns is back at Ohio State!

Miriam Burns is a conductor born and raised in Westerville, a proud product of Westerville South High School, and a former Ohio State University student while still in high school (“early admission!”).

She’s made her home in New York for many years but I don’t know how often she’s there. Burns is currently music director of Tysons McLean Orchestra in Virginia and conducts regularly in New York with the Orchestra of the Redeemer.

She was on staff with the New Philharmonic as one of their cover conductors, having been appointed by Kurt Masur as the result of a competitive audition.

She’s been Music Director of the Tallahassee Symphony, the Kenosha Symphony and the Lawton Philharmonic.

Now Miriam Burns returns to Ohio, three days a week, as professor of conducting at The Ohio State University School of Music.

Meet Miriam Burns:

Christopher Purdy is Classical 101's early morning host, 7-10 a.m. weekdays. He is host and producer of Front Row Center – Classical 101’s weekly celebration of Opera and more – as well as Music in Mid-Ohio, Concerts at Ohio State, and the Columbus Symphony broadcast series. He is the regular pre-concert speaker for Columbus Symphony performances in the Ohio Theater.
