Editorial cartoons are as entrenched in American society as ever. Every big city has at least one. For some, they芒聙聶re the best part of the editorial page. But as the newspaper business shrinks, so do the ranks of editorial cartoonists. Joining us to talk about the business and the art is veteran editorial cartoonist Jeff Stahler. Jeff is native of Bellefontaine and he graduated in 1977 from the He worked 19 years for the before moving to the , where his work appears every week on the editorial page and in the comics section with . Jeff芒聙聶s work also appears weekly in USA Today and frequently is reprinted in major magazines and newspapers, including Newsweek and The New York Times.

In his first week of his first campaign, at least, Smith isn芒聙聶t pouncing on the obvious low-hanging fruit芒聙聰the things political observers call Coleman芒聙聶s vulnerabilities, including a recent spike in violent crime last summer, and the controversial vote in 2009 to raise the city芒聙聶s income tax from 2 percent to 2.5 percent. In fact, Smith said he would have done the same thing.
